Connectivity between PAs, Natural sites, Himmas, Protected Forests and OECMs

Project Details

NameConnectivity between PAs, Natural sites, Himmas, Protected Forests and OECMs
DescriptionConnectivity in conservation is essential to ensure habitat continuity beyond formally protected areas (PAs). This approach emphasizes the creation of ecological corridors that link habitats, facilitating species movement and promoting genetic diversity. It considers landscape patterns and species' ability to traverse mosaics, highlighting the ecological value of areas outside PAs. While not officially protected. These regions, namely OECMS, nature sites, reserves, himmas and protected forests, play a critical role in supporting biodiversity and maintaining ecosystem health.

Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions

Absolute value (STAR)

22.3

9.9% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of Lebanon is covered by this project.

225.3

0.1% of Asia's biodiversity conservation potential is from Lebanon.

309,761.9

25.9% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from Asia.

This stacked bar chart represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
