Project Details

NameHimalayan Nature
DescriptionThe CONNECT project aims to enhance biodiversity and climate resilience in Suklaphanta National Park (ShNP) while sustainably improving the livelihoods of surrounding buffer zone communities. It focuses on integrated conservation and development, contributing to several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including poverty reduction, zero hunger, climate action, and decent work. The project achieves this through three key outcomes: improving conservation strategies, increasing sustainable income for 1,388 buffer zone households, and enhancing interdisciplinary coordination supported by research. CONNECT seeks to make a lasting impact by addressing conservation challenges, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and strengthening local governance and community involvement.

Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions

Absolute value (STAR)

39.8

0% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of Asia is covered by this project.

309,761.9

25.9% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from Asia.

This stacked bar chart represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
