The Snow Leopard Enterprise is a conservation program aimed at strengthening SLF’s community-based conservation efforts through identifying and introducing diverse means of livelihood for communities who share the snow leopard habitat. The aim of such a conservation program is to mitigate the conflict between wildlife and communities whose livestock often falls prey to snow leopard and other carnivores. Therefore, with the ultimate goal of promoting conservation, the SLE works towards creating sustainable economic opportunities for communities which in turn reduces their motivation for poaching. It does so through various initiatives including skill development for women artisans, and providing them linkages to markets.

Potential conservation benefits in saving biodiversity

Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions

Absolute value (STAR)

13.9

0% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of Asia is covered by this project.

309,761.9

25.9% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from Asia.

The chart below represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
