At the confluence of the Andes and the Amazon, the Madidi-Tambopata Landscape is a transboundary jewel stretching from the tropical savannas and lowland rainforest to the high Andean peaks on the border between Bolivia and Peru. This 12 million hectare area includes globally important carbon storage forests, one of the largest tracts of intact montane forest in the tropical Andes, and the most biologically diverse protected area in the world: Madidi.

Potential conservation benefits in saving biodiversity

Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions

Absolute value (STAR)

3,514.4

0.6% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of The Americas is covered by this project.

543,527.6

45.4% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from The Americas.

The chart below represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
