This landscape encompasses LLanganates National Park in the high Andes, the lower foothills that connect to the lowlands of Yasuní Biosphere Reserve (YBR), and Yasuní National Park in the Amazon lowlands. The area extends along an altitudinal gradient ranging from 200 and 4500 m. Located at the intersection of the Andes, the Amazon, and the equator; the Llanganates - Yasuní landscape harbors extraordinary levels of species richness across major taxa, measured both by the absolute number of species and by the number of species per unit of area. The area has been recognized as having outstanding global conservation significance due to its extraordinary biodiversity, and potential to sustain this biodiversity in the long-term.

Potential conservation benefits in saving biodiversity

Potential reduction of species extinction risk resulting from threat abatement actions

Absolute value (STAR)

2,240.6

0.4% of the total biodiversity conservation potential of The Americas is covered by this project.

543,527.6

45.4% of global biodiversity conservation potential is from The Americas.

The chart below represents the relative disaggregation of the selected contribution's total potential opportunity for reducing global species extinction risk through taking actions to abate different threats to species within its boundaries. The percentages refer to the amount of the total opportunity that could potentially be achieved through abating that particular threat.
