Title: Human-Wildlife Conflict Mitigation in India Commissioned by: Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) Lead executing agency: Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change State Forest Department of Karnataka, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. Project Brief: The project takes the approach of harmonious coexistence, by ensuring that both – human and wildlife – are protected from conflicts. This approach follows the modern wildlife conservation principles to balance the needs of people with the conservation of nature. The project follows a holistic approach to addressing human-wildlife conflicts (HWC) by considering a thematic triangle’ of driver-prevention-damage mitigation at national, state, and local levels. The Centre for Environment Communication (CEC) was responsible for planning and Implement Awareness and Communication Measures, Community and other stakeholders' engagement, at National Level, States and Pilot Sites under “Human Wildlife Conflict Project” for GIZ.
